Bland On Bland – Cool

Bland On Bland – The BookThe theme for this week’s JVG Radio Method poem is “ Cool “.

This week had the show being run by Sarah Carroll (JVG was allegedly at the Community Cup – we want pictures Jon). Sarah running the show is always a joy, enjoyed chatting with both her and Dan.

If you missed the show live I suggest you have a listen to the 3RRR Listen on Demand – Dan Warner & Co played a great version of  Cool Water and
Gary Young, Mick Hamilton at the Paul Gadsby at the end of the show were brilliant.  One of those day s you were glad you were there.

And I believe the Rockdogs won – there is always next year.

The poem is another trip back to the “neighbourhood” and has nothing to do with footy.

Ed Bates went missing this week, so I had the pleasure of Dan Warner providing the guitar backing. Have a listen to how it went below…

Bland On Bland – Runaway

Bland On Bland – The BookThe theme for this week’s JVG Radio Method poem is “ Runaway “.

What a great theme JVG picked this week and for the sharp eyed among you – yes we did do do Runaway once before back in Mar 2007

Jon and I chatted about the week gone and the glamour of running away when you are young (hint if you are 11 years old. 5 Suitcases and a boomerang might be stretching it a bit).

And such a wonderful reason for him choosing this weeks theme. That’s right, Jon was nipping out early today. Abandoning the ship. Doing a runner…. You get the idea.

Ed Bates, provided backing this week (if you get a chance checkout his solo on Dans cover of Del Shannon’s Runaway over on the 3RRR site from later in the show… brilliant)

Great theme this week, a chance to resume the conversation with our robot overlords, no wait, God. Thats right its time for another “Letter To God”

And huge thanks to every one who made their way to the Union Hotel, I hope you all had as much fun as we did.

Bland On Bland – Every Day

Bland On Bland – The BookThe theme for this week’s JVG Radio Method poem is “ Every Day “.

JVG has given us a lot of latitude this week ( and I will bet you it was inadvertent). T

he topic was to be “every day” or was it “everyday”. As you can see lots of possibilities.

Bland On Bland – Being embraced in someone’s arms

Bland On Bland – The BookThe theme for this week’s JVG Radio Method poem is “ Being embraced in someone’s arms “.

First to admit a bit of an odd one, but after giving the ideas a bit of room to sort themselves out, this one just almost wrote itself.

JVG and I discussed fireplaces and gas heaters (the things that we find to discuss on a Sunday afternoon). It turns out that Ed has five fireplaces.. before this descends any further here is this weeks poem

Ed “#FiveFire Places” Bates, provided his inimitable backing. Have a listen to how it went below…

Bland On Bland – Flames

Bland On Bland – The BookThe theme for this week’s JVG Radio Method poem is “ Flames “.

Back to the neighborhood this week. JVG rang up and told me the theme and this literally jumped straight on to the page. Didn’t require much finessing at all.

And one day, I must remember to tell the story about “Pig”, some Redheads and the footy stand… must illuminating. They say it lit up the sky for miles. But, as I said, that’s for another day.

I had to dash off to Union Hotel for a gig with the “Lamo’s”, thanks to everyone who was able to come along. The band and I had a great gig. I believe that we will be back there soon.

Ed once again supplied the brilliant backing. Have a listen to how it went below…

Bland On Bland – Australian Country Towns

Bland On Bland – The BookThe theme for this week’s JVG Radio Method poem is “ Australian Country Towns “.

Great theme this week and JVG back from his holiday.

It was a huge Indie Record Store day at Basement on Saturday. I confess to feeling a little under the weather having talked to so many people at Basement Discs, and what great performances.

My hat is off to the awesome team there, I dont know how you manage to do it year after year.

If you were there you will know what I mean, if you weren’t put it in your phone for next year. A not to be missed event ( and Andy White playing this Friday lunchtime )

The inimitable Ed Bates is providing backing as usual today, and once again in fine form. Have a listen to how it went below…
