Bland On Bland – Common

Bland On Bland – The BookThe theme for this week’s JVG Radio Method poem is “ COMMON “.

Great theme this week, a chance to resume the conversation with our robot overlords, no wait, God. Thats right its time for another “Letter To God”

And huge thanks to every one who made their way to the Union Hotel, I hope you all had as much fun as we did.

COMMON

Dear God
It’s me, remember? You probably don’t recall
The amount of people born each year, I don’t blame you at all

Besides, I’m pretty common, as you’ve probably deduced
You’ve made 107 billion people since our model was introduced

That’s not including Neanderthals and they were as thick as bricks
Bigger lemons, in my humble opinion, than the Leyland P76

To be honest, we’re not much better, over powered and under-equipped
We’ve created so many the market is flooded and production values have slipped

You could try to excuse it as teething problems, we’re only 200,000 years old
We’re more your Toyota than Maserati, as common as the cold

Three hundred and sixty thousand a day come off the assembly line
There’s a major fault with the steering and most of the engines whine

Quantity over quality, the pressure is causing mistakes
The accelerator’s always sticking and there’s a major flaw with the brakes

From a marketing perspective, things are really out of hand
There are way too many options and it just dilutes the brand

You could reincarnate Henry Ford, he’d get things back on track
Any colour that you want providing that it’s black

Though colours not the issue, it’s more about the creed
All fighting over market share, how many gods do we need?

They could merge like Ford and Volvo, how good would that be?
Of course it could meet some resistance from the ACCC

Why do you allow such atrocities to be committed in your name?
To God goes all the glory, let the devil take the blame?

Are you prisoner of our bias, forced to validate our view?
Are we created in your image or have we created you?

To justify our bigotry, our vile and godless acts?
Weaving piety with intolerance, prejudice with facts

Yes, we’re common and we’re ordinary, is that not your will?
God, whether you exist or not, it’s your name on the grill
