The theme for this week’s JVG Radio Method poem is “Slow Movers“.

This week we had the pleasure of Dan Warner hosting the show, JVG has done a runner for a couple of weeks. It never ceases to amaze me at the difference in feel Dan brings to the show when he is hosting.

Next week I think Sarah Carroll will be hosting and it will be totally different again.

Great theme this week . I felt compelled to use the opportunity to speak to a few of those “slow movers” who haven’t sent in their vote.

Ed Bates provided the guitar backing today, have a listen to how it went below…

Slow Movers

Slow Movers

Four weary snails sort refuge at the bottom of the yard
Behind a tall, brick fence, as always, on their guard

They chatted as they slowly made their way along the base
These ragged, world worn travellers, decried their lack of pace

“I was once so fleet and agile” grieved the first of them to speak
“Now, alas, it seems I grow more sluggish by the week”

“Who are you?” cried the others as they edged along the wall
He puffed “I’m Public Transport” slowing to a crawl

“If only” groaned the second snail “they’d let me do things my way
Then I would have had the speed for the information highway

I’ll make it there eventually, the only question’s when”
“What’s your name?” the others quizzed “Who me? I’m NBN”

The oldest snail, bruised and battered, looked out into the distance
“I’d have reached my destination if I hadn’t met resistance

I’ve been kicked, removed, poisoned, trampled, faced annihilation”
“We’ve heard of you” the others hailed “you’re Reconciliation”

Suddenly, the fourth snail, took off like a cheetah
Scaled the fence in seconds, led the others by a metre

“Wait up” the others panted “tell us where you’re heading”
She beamed “I’m Same Sex Marriage, and I’m headed to a wedding”
