Bland On Bland – Breathing

Bland On Bland – The Book

The theme for this week’s JVG Radio Method poem is “ Breathing “.

I took the opportunity to head back to the “neighbourhood” this week. Second time in weeks.  It was one of those ideas that jumped into my head but took ages to get right

Jon and I also discussed the sad passing of Chuck Berry, and the importance of him to popular music. A true giant.

Ed Bates supplied the appropriately atmospheric backing this week, have a listen to how it went below…

Bland On Bland – Female Sonic Trailblazers

Bland On Bland – The Book

The theme for this week’s JVG Radio Method poem is “ Female Sonic Trailblazers “.

JVG has handed over the running of the show to DrPump today. Jon came up with some lame excuse about playing at the Port Fairy Festival.

We reckon he just wanted a lie-in after a big night.

Anyway it’s a ripper theme and gave me a chance to drag out some memories of growing up here in Melbourne.

Great to have Ed in the studio today providing backing on slide guitar, have a listen to how it went below…

Bland On Bland – Hell

Bland On Bland – The Book

The theme for this week’s JVG Radio Method poem is “ Hell “.

Well its a no brainer how JVG came up with this weeks theme. I’m betting JVG had to use public transport on a Sunday. Or maybe he just looked at the chaos that surrounds the running of the show. What ever it was, a good choice and there was really only one way for the poem to go. Time to continue our ongoing and admittedly one sided conversation with God

Dave Evans supplied the “thematically appropriate” sepulchral backing this week, have a listen to how it went below…

Bland On Bland – Coffee and Tea

Bland On Bland – The BookThe theme for this week’s JVG Radio Method poem is “ Coffee and Tea“.

Dropping things, picking things up, carbonated drinks and this week “Coffee and Tea”.

Does any one else see a pattern emerging for the topics this year?

Does JVG have some inspired master plan for topics this year.?

Who knows?

But for the record, I enjoyed writing this week’s poem over a green tea and  of course its The Stones, no contest ( I await your angry tweets and messages )

Big thanks to those of you who came to the gig at the Lomond . Great night had by all

Bland On Bland – Carbonated Beverages

Bland On Bland – The Book

The theme for this week’s JVG Radio Method poem is “Carbonated Beverages“.

Great show today, Sarah Carroll was in co hosting the show with JVG. Always look forward to Sarah visiting and her singing on to Warner Corner was a ripper

I went with a Noel Coward inspired piece today, the topic seemed to call for it.

Ed Bates captured the “Cowardesque” feel rather well I thought, have a listen and see what you think.

Bland On Bland – Dropping Something

blndonblandpoem-featuredThe theme for this week’s JVG Radio Method poem is “Dropping Something“.

Today’s poem is something of a milestone. It marks the tenth anniversary of Bland On Bland.

To commemorate the occasion it seems fitting that today’s offering should head “back to the neighbourhood.”

Besides it’s been a while.

Thanks to Ed for coming in to do today’s show. I felt it was important that he be here as he has been a significant part of Bland On Bland from the beginning ( I hope you got to your gig on time mate.) and a special thanks to Thatch and Jools at Pretentia.com for their technical wizardry, enabling me to contribute to the JVG Radio Method from all around the world

Bland On Bland – Catching Something

blndonblandpoem-featuredThe theme for this week’s JVG Radio Method poem is “Catching Something“.

First show for the year and it seems as if we haven’t been away at all. JVG and I chatted about our respective breaks and how the book went (Thanks again to everyone at  Basement Discs for the great support of the book)

So on with the first poem for 2017  – huge thanks also to Ed Bates, who  supplied today’s wonderfully appropriate sound track.

Bland On Bland – Gift Giving

blndonblandpoem-featuredThe theme for this week’s JVG Radio Method poem is “Gift Giving“.

Last show of the year and Jon is in a mellow mood, seems he opened the bottle of Cabernet he was given as a gift a week early.

Well at least the show ran like a well oiled machine… Ed stepped on a cat’s tail, the cat turned around and bit him and he is in hospital in one of those rooms you have to put on a yellow “hazmat” suit when you go and visit him.
Both cat and Ed are responding well to treatment

I lost the poem BUT fortunately there was a perfect poem in my book so I used that instead.
I found the one I had lost after the segment and Jon accused me of shameless marketing – well of course it was. I learnt from him

Have a great Christmas and we will see you all in the new year
