February 19, 2018 | Ian Bland | Leave a comment The theme for this week’s JVG Radio Method poem is “Affair“. You have to give credit to JVG for not mind being “obvious” about a choice of theme. Give the headlines all over town this week you can understand him wanting to contribute to the “debate”. A great show this week, a wonderful discussion of the weeks “goings on” ( get your minds out of the Canberra gutters people) and the upcoming “wrong end of summer” 3RRR BBQ Day next weekend. Ed Bates provided the guitar backing, had his birthday today. There was a cake, the usual embarrassing fire hazard of candles and sadly all pictures of the event were confiscated at the door. But the day did seem to bring out a wonderful performance, have a listen to how it went below… To play this poem directly in your browser – just click the “play” button below: https://ianbland.com.au/audio/JVG_Poem20180218.mp3 Affair An impetuous affair, abandoning all care Youthful hearts awakened by desire They met in Fawkner Park; instantly a spark That in moments would ignite a raging fire A passionate affair, he so debonair While she possessed a strength, intoxicating Confident and young, wilful, highly strung Impulsiveness both found stimulating A scandalous affair, though they made a dashing pair All reason lost to animal attraction Their families disapproved and as one would not be moved Knowing lust sires no lasting satisfaction It was a doomed affair, two lovers unaware Of the consequences of that blissful day Emotions unrestrained, affections not contained She found herself in the family way It was a ruinous affair, her family in despair How could this happen? They were at a loss Had she lost her mind, to bond with other than her kind?
