The theme for this week’s JVG Radio Method poem is “Closing Things“.
Penultimate show for 2021 and an interesting theme to play with, JVG has had a lot of fun with the topic choices the last few months. Some saner than others, this one I found easy.

Much has changed in the pandemic; more than we supposed
Division and derision; trenches dug as borders closed
Friendships strained or worse as the gulf became too wide
Where once we begged to differ, now forced to choose a side
Bonds thought invincible, surrendered, in a breath
I will ever grieve their loss, to be mourned, as any death
Friendships forged and valued; abandoned with regret
Victims of the virus; a virus carried on the net
Doctrines embraced, requiring neither facts nor proof
As always faith subjective; we determine our own truth
What I deem total madness is reality for some
In our endless search for reason, at times we all succumb
Certainty is arbitrary; supposition or deduction?
Science our salvation or science our destruction?
Belief usurps all logic and each must judge its worth
Be it a vaccine with a 5G chip or be it a virgin birth
