November 13, 2016 | Ian Bland | Leave a comment The theme for this week’s JVG Radio Method poem is “Crazy“. Jon’s selection of a theme this week isn’t so much a theme as the plan for how the show works ( or not) on any given week. A short poem that covers the last week, ironically it turns out Jon’s choice was perfect for the week that just passed. Ed was back playing again this week, always a treat To play this poem directly in your browser – just click the “play” button below: https://ianbland.com.au/audio/JVG_Poem20161113.mp3 Crazy The human race is crazy; certifiably insane Our primitive sense of reason hasn’t kept pace with the brain For all our wondrous achievements; for all our brilliant ideas Our arrogant sense of entitlement was destined to end in tears We see ourselves as the image of God, delusion becomes an addiction Power to create and power to destroy; entire species pushed to extinction Insatiable economic growth, the planet cannot sustain A toxic, selfish legacy for a momentary gain Forget about tomorrow, let the planet fry Who gives a toss for mother earth, we’re off to heaven when we die So we breed and spread like locusts, culling all that stands our way Oceans, forests, soil, the air; everything must pay When science dares to question we deny its very existence Stupidity, like deceit and greed takes the path of least resistance We refute the bleeding obvious, ignoring sound advice Continue with our plundering like Narcissus on ice If ever there was an ominous sign of which way the planet’s going The week we gained a Donald Trump, we lost a Leonard Cohen © Copyright 2016 Ian Bland Also have a listen to the songs on the new album “Everything or Nothing” Everything And Nothing by Ian Bland Share this:TweetEmailMoreTelegram
