Bland On Bland – The BookThe theme for this week’s JVG Radio Method poem is “Forgetting“.

I had this great intro written out but I forget where I wrote it…

Ed Bates provided the guitar backing, have a listen to how it went below…

Forgetting

Everyone says I’m forgetting things
That can be quite upsetting
Trouble is no-one remembers
Exactly what I’m forgetting

I’m no worse than the rest of them
My memory’s not too bad
I’ve taken to writing everything down
I forget what I did with the pad

Besides, I can’t find my glasses
On top of my head at last sighting
They make no difference anyway
Can’t even read my own writing

A friend recommended Brain Games
In the end I decided ‘screw them’
What’s the point in exercises
When I keep forgetting to do them?

I’m the first to admit my mind
Was sharper when I was young
What used to reside between my ears
Is now stuck to the tip of my tongue

I’m not even sure what I’m doing here
And I can’t remember the theme
Least I’m in good company on this show
Where forgetfulness is a meme

Someone suggested a bottle of wine
Whoever it was I forget
A bottle each night with dinner they said
And I haven’t forgotten it yet

My doctor tells me it’s dangerous
Maybe it is – maybe not
‘Cause a couple of drinks I forget I’m forgetting
Whatever it is I forgot
