Bland On Bland – Gambling

Bland On Bland – The BookThe theme for this week’s JVG Radio Method poem is “Gambling“.

So, Jon decides to take a punt on gambling as a theme. How could you go wrong? I mentally flipped a coin and this is the result…

(You bet I could keep this going but I don’t think we need to torture this metaphor any further)

Ed Bates provided the music backing and sound effects. Thatch provided the audio production, have a listen to how it went below…

Gambling

Life is a gamble, every step, every breath
Vintage champagne or crystal meth

Needs and desires versus risk and return
What to keep safe, what to let burn

Can’t be avoided, you chose by degrees
Driving cars or a golf ball; scaling ladders or trees

Bungee jumping or riding a bike
Scuba diving or a mountain hike

A shark, a tiger, a snake, a bee
Lock yourself in or chance running free?

The odds are stacked before you begin
Your caste, blood, culture, your skin

Education, finances, politics, gender
Kiss with a fist or Love me tender

Access to water, food and vaccines
What’s in your pocket and what’s in your genes

All on the nose or hedge your bet
Just one more, one more cigarette

A needle, a bottle, a nip or a tuck
Skating on ice, punting on luck

The draw of a card, a coin in the slot
Stick to your limit or chance the lot

Reckless or cautious, the wheel ever spins
In the end the house always wins
