Bland On Bland – The BookThe theme for this week’s JVG Radio Method poem is “News“.

I had this weeks poem written early (unusual).

And then the news from New Zealand exploded across the media.

On the way into the studio this morning, I wrote the piece you have here. The original one didn’t fit the day as well as I would have hoped.

The news is cancelled; none to report
If for only a day, I cherish the thought

Instead, the abhorrent; and nowhere to run
Is it really about one man and a gun?

How could this happen? Yet we’ve seen the signs
Like water in cracks; it rots, undermines

Erodes precious freedoms; our right to speech
Poisoned by hate some choose to preach

Bullets pierce, where words abuse
When one is lost, all will lose

Silence condemns to a life of chains
Fear and mistrust seep into our veins

Speak loud, speak often; reach out, reach in
Think it’s not your fight? Then the bastards win

Words I don’t expect anytime soon
The news is cancelled; have a great afternoon
