The theme Jon chose for the JVG Radio Method today was “STANDING”.

This week finds me leaving Cornwall and heading to “The North”. I am off to Edinburgh. And to add a sense of adventure to the trip, I have decided to go by train, assuming there are no leaves on the tracks or the “wrong type of snow”
I really will do something about the putting up words as soon as I can, just as soon as I have finished with the Guiness Single Malt testing. It’s a dirty job but someone’s got to do it.

standing on the shank hill road
camera, map and change of clothes

five minutes from your b&b
mcdonalds, starbucks, kfc

so little seen for such renown
another street, another town

a half hour stroll along the hill
you want to feel it, but never will

a half hour stroll where so many died
the blood’s been stemmed but not yet dried

now tourists brave the hill and falls
take happy snaps in front of muralled walls

there’s tension woven through the calm
but surely tourists are safe from harm

a sudden ambush, you go to shout
but there’s no hope of talking your way out

you’d failed to heed the warning sign
no standing here anytime
