The theme for this week’s JVG Radio Method poem is “ The Line “.

A subdued conversation and an odd show this week, the topic Jon selected was The Line. All the more apropos with Peter Lillie passing on. He was a wonderful poet and songwriter, he will be missed.

Ed Bates was on backing guitar this week

The Line

The line between inspired and insanity
Honour and vanity
Profound and profanity
The line that divides virtue and sin
Truth from spin
The line is thin – and the line is wide
Narrow or broad, we each decide

Between just and transgression
Love and obsession
Desire and crave
Reckless and brave
Redemption, surrender
Aggressor, defender
Affection, lust
Loyalty and trust
Promise and deed
Accept and concede
Overlooked and neglected
Feared and respected
Resignation, consent
Revolt and dissent
Vibrant and manic
Fan and fanatic
Ally and friend
Imagine, pretend
Decisive and rash
Treasure and trash
Theory and fact
Weakness and tact
A lie and deceit
Pride and conceit
Malignant, benign
Debauched and divine
Liberated, enslaved
Enlightened, depraved
Encourage, coerce
Righteous, perverse
Justice, retribution
Reaction, solution
Vulgar and witty
Compassion and pity
Sorrow and grief
Dogma, belief
Sufferance, submission
Instinct and vision
Prejudice, conviction
Progress, extinction
Faith and illusion
Insight, delusion
Acceptance, compliance
Religion and science

But the line between Evil and good is so small
Sometimes it seems there is no line at all
