Bland On Bland – The BookThe theme for this week’s JVG Radio Method poem is “Traversing Bodies Of Water“.

I had to phone the poem in this week, I was playing a gg on the other side of town.
JVG hates it when we do this

I dont care I really really like this one

So noEd Bates providing the guitar backing today, have a listen to how it went below…

My mother was a pirate

My mother was a pirate
Queen of all the deep
She’d tell me tales
Of ships and gales
Before I went to sleep
We sailed the seven oceans
Where others feared to tread
The Little Minch – The Spanish Main
Round the Cape – And home again
Tucked up in my bed

My mother was a Buccaneer
A pirate through and through
We’d fill the hold
With chests of gold
Share it with the crew
We conquered every ocean
Never lost a fight
Port Royal – To Zanzibar
Half Moon Bay – To Panama
Home before first light

My mother was a pirate
A fearless bandit queen
No storm or fog
Or scurvy dog
Could best her brigantine
Revered in every harbour
Brave but never cruel
Malabar to Barbary
Wake me up – For toast and tea
Then walk me up to school

Now the world is full of pirates
Cut throat privateers
In fancy clothes
Greedy Financiers
Plundering the boardrooms
Of companies and banks
Keel haul – Bastards all
Take their flag – With a cannonball
Then make them walk the plank
