The theme for this week’s JVG Radio Method poem is “Warm Nights“.
One of those weeks where the chat between Jon and I was about five times longer than the poem. I enjoyed this week.
Ed Bates provided the guitar backing, have a listen to how it went below…

Where did that come from?
Memories arise unsummoned, plucked from a summer long forgotten.
Prized loose by a warm breeze and gentle, late spring evening
Rekindled, recollections of a deserted ocean beach – or was it a crowded Fitzroy lane? Perhaps it was both
A transient return to a paradise lost, immune to the crush of mortgages, rent, politics, pessimism and television’s toxic glow
Euphoric, carefree, reckless
When love danced and the future promised
An oasis, however fleeting, wedged between the aimless narcissism of youth and the jaded rationalism of age
As in all dreams, the plot has not survived intact, though mood and emotion endure beyond words
Look up at the stars
How long has it been?
Recall when the sun had a scent, the wind a taste and summer a song
When Brian Wilson, straddled a surfboard, carving his way across oceans without touching the water
And for one glorious moment, ride once more that perfect wave
