Bland On Bland – The BookThe theme for this week’s JVG Radio Method poem is “Wisdom“.

The carry on in the media by some of the commentators this week seemed to call for some rebuttal.

This weeks theme seemed a good place to start

Ed Bates provided the guitar backing, have a listen to how it went below…

When the settlers first fleet landed, they asked of this earth
The green fields of England they hoped to rebirth

Two hundred plus years and what have we learned?
Plains lost to salt as mountains have burned

Flora and fauna, some lost for good
A land, for the most, we’ve not understood

Common sense spurned by the politically pious
Even science must yield to atone for their bias

Long term vision capped at three years
As fields turn to dust and a lake disappears

Deflecting the blame to the vagaries of weather
Environments butchered; banished, forever

Economics, misplaced; yet we battle on still
Nature expected to cede to our will

Rivers must thirst, starved till they dry
Soil left to sour and fish left to die

We march to our own beat ignoring the drum
Our legacy borne by those yet to come

Even our cities robbed of their breath
If the past ventured blind then the present stands deaf

Though the planet cries out, few heed the call
To those who listen the land reveals all

Its needs, its limits; all it sustains
The wise know always to work with the grain

Intellect, passion, talent and flair
Without wisdom to bind, are a lot of hot air
